Three, two, one
Summer is done
Shortened days
Lunchroom trays
School in session
Answer the question
Join the throng
As days speed along
Before we know it
We'll be frost bit
With chilly breezes
And someone preaches
"Remember the blast
Of heat that harassed
Us all through June"
Coming soon
We will enjoy
With every girl and boy
Christmas vacation
Days and weeks hasten
To bring us spring
And begin the counting
Of the days
With shouts of hoorays
School will be done
Three, two, one
Summer is done
Shortened days

ReplyDeleteAs I read this, I realize, life goes by way too fast.
ReplyDeleteWe start here tomorrow. It does fly by. How can my youngest be in fourth grade???
ReplyDeleteGood luck with school. I know, time flies. :)
ReplyDeleteIt goes too fast for me, too.
ReplyDeleteThree, two, one
ReplyDeleteSummer is done
That just about sums it up for me too! All summers fly, but this one in particular was so packed that it went by at warp speed. I enjoyed it, but I am ready for a slower fall. Love your poetry!
You don't like school? ME EITHER. I have always disliked school. Even when my son was in school.
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautifully ironic! I love how it starts and ends with the good stuff - long days, vacation, summer :) Usually I think of it as being the other way around.
ReplyDeleteAh school... so much to like, so much to dislike. :) Just kidding! What a blessing to have education, but I will definitely shout hooray with you when I'm finished. <3
ReplyDeleteSchool...don't rush...thanks Happy Girl. I'm off to the dump on Saturday to gather stories.
ReplyDeleteBack to the well, so to speak. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your classes. Study hard.
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteI love the way you see me in my writing.
ReplyDeleteFun...such an economy of words...
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe it's time already. I like your poem, hg. (I tried to comment yesterday, but for some reason the comment button wasn't showing up then.)

Oh my goodness. This is just SO good. I love it! : )
ReplyDeletehow fun this was to read. life's year with children in full circle as quickly as three two one - so true!
ReplyDeleteThis was such great fun to read!
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's a quick read. :)
ReplyDeleteTime moves so fast. We must pay attention.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading.
ReplyDeleteYour note is even sweeter. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn. :)
