Quiet my mind
Close my eyes
Slow my thoughts
Experience the stillness
Connect to my body
Stop doing for a moment and be
Quiet
Sit comfortably
Touch fingertips to fingertips
Feel the feelings
Thoughts drift
Feel my fingertips
Quiet
See my body through my forehead
Feel my edges
My skin touches my clothes
Thoughts drift
Feel my fingertips
Quiet
Experience the stillness
Thoughts drift
See my feet through my forehead
Connect to my body
Feel my fingertips
And I've been quiet and my thoughts have been focused
Close my eyes
Slow my thoughts
Experience the stillness
Connect to my body
Stop doing for a moment and be
Quiet
Sit comfortably
Touch fingertips to fingertips
Feel the feelings
Thoughts drift
Feel my fingertips
Quiet
See my body through my forehead
Feel my edges
My skin touches my clothes
Thoughts drift
Feel my fingertips
Quiet
Experience the stillness
Thoughts drift
See my feet through my forehead
Connect to my body
Feel my fingertips
And I've been quiet and my thoughts have been focused
Ah, focus. So rare and yet so necessary. Good post. ^_^
ReplyDeleteah...that felt good...thank you for leading us through it...smiles.
ReplyDeleteI like this...wise.
ReplyDelete...yes, something we all need to do....in these busy times it can be hard to do....you are a wise and happy girl! :-)
ReplyDeleteRelaxing! :)
ReplyDeletei relish quiet spaces, and i've found (like you) that most times i need to create the quiet as it doesn't often walk up to me.
ReplyDeletei think christianity and yoga marry well--i like to focus my meditations on His goodness, His word. it's peace-giving and soul-replenishing. :)
I found a really interesting discussion of Christianity and Yoga in the comments to this post.

Food for thought. You can email me for my own thoughts, if you want.
And, then the phone rings!
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot!
Is this a story of a yoga moment? That's what it feels like. I love the spiritual discipline of disciplining the body this way. I'm not very good at it, but it does make a difference.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing 40 days of yoga. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeletei am so bad at sitting still and being quiet, and yet that is what my soul and body need. i had neglected my yoga class until last week. what a difference that hour makes!
ReplyDeletei saw your comment on nic's post and wanted to add my two cents. i find yoga to be an important part of my self-care and think that Christians can practice yoga, but it's something to be very careful with. my instructor very rarely focuses on the spiritual components, but i make sure to pray instead of releasing things out to the universe, etc. once in the middle of a class i felt very strongly that i needed to pray for protection. to sum up, i think yoga is great, we just need to be very alert.
i feel better for this, dear girl. thank you.
ReplyDeletemmmmmmmm....beautiful....just resting in one's breath with awareness. This has been a big topic at wwww.dharmasisterscircle.org this week as we read Sylvia Boorstein's wonderful book "Happiness is an Inside Job," together in our sacred inter-spiritual community.
ReplyDeleteMay you continue to open to moments of deep peace and awareness, breath by breath.
