Johnny can't read

Tell me what it means
To leave no child behind?  It seems
A problem for Johnny cannot
Read a book he's never seen.

He's a bright young guy
With a mind so fly
He memorizes all the words
Ever heard read aloud to him.

When reading's this hard
Life can be rough
In the schoolyard.

  1. This is a sharp little poem. Nice work!
There is a simple code for the link thing. Email me at enchantedoak@sbcglobal.net and I'll send it to you. If I try to paste it here, it will create a live link and that won't help you.

  4. Link text     If you insert your blog POST URL between the " " and leave the spaces and everything like I typed them, you are as good as gold.   It took me a few times before I was mistake free.

No Child Left Behind is impossible.  Of course some will be.  And some are hurt because they have to WAIT for the slower ones.   It is tough either way!

  5. Life's tough for some kids in the schoolyard.  Indeed.

  6. I still haven't figured out this no child left behind business.  They still flunk the kids, only they can't seem to find a word for it.

  8. It's an awful policy.  Kids, who really don't know any better at that age, can be cruel.  And the teachers, though they may be understanding and sympathetic, are already taxed enough and may not necessarily be trained to help kids like Johnny.  We've got to find a way to not leave these intelligent kids behind.

  11. Yes, it can be, and it is so wrong to do that. Teaching is what is needed, not going up. If taught right, the moving up will continue on its own right?

  12. Is this about your son?  Do you ever post about him?  I'd love to know more about him.

  13.  Yes, this is about my son.  I don't post about him often because he doesn't want me to.  I respect his wishes.  Please feel free to email me anytime.  I'm looking for support on the blogs and autism sites.  It's helping me feel more positive about his future.
